ACRRA – Peace Centre Strategic Partnership
ACRRA has concluded a strategic partnership with the Peace Centre, a newly registered pro bono law clinic based within the Franschhoek community. Both ACRRA and Peace Centre share a commitment to peace, legal support, and the promotion of Indigenous Peoples, Local Communities their Resource Rights. This collaboration establishes a framework for ACRRA to expand its legal support programme, with a particular focus on strategic advice and strategic litigation offered under the Peace Centre.
Through our partnership, ACRRA and Peace Centre aim to:
- Support peace initiatives and legal empowerment of communities, to promote Peace and support of Indigenous Peoples’ their resource rights including their rights to steward, use and benefit from their customary resources- plants, animal wildlife, fisheries and critical mineral rights – in the context of community-led conservation.
- Facilitate the exchange of knowledge regarding the just transition to a green economy, Free, Prior, and Informed Consent, and best practices for Community Benefit Agreements.
- ACRRA’s pro bono cases will be instructed under the umbrella of the Peace Centre.
This marks a significant milestone for ACRRA’s institutional growth and outreach.
